ADULT SUNDAY EDUCATION

Our Adult Education classes (Adult Sunday School) meet on Sunday mornings from 9:15 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.  Through Adult Education we seek to establish courses that will make attendees as knowledgeable about Biblical teaching as possible so they can apply its principles to their daily life.

Our primary purpose is the maturity of disciples, providing an intentional process for spiritual growth.  Our secondary purpose is to provide a place where social connections can be made and reinforced, drawing our community closer together and spurring on one another's growth in Christ.

In order to encourage social interaction among people close to the same stage of life, Adult Sunday School is generally divided into three to five groups according to age.

Knowing the recommended groups, each person is free to choose which group they would like to associate themselves with.  Many people choose classes based on topic rather than age.

Our curriculum is built around five major areas of learning.  We emphasize Study of the Bible, Christian Beliefs, Christian Life and Life Issues, Christian Ethics and Church History   Our classes, which are comprised of people who are at different levels of maturity in their Christian walk, offer topics at a depth that has a broad applicability within their group.  We also offer studies that cover the basics of the Christian faith in an introductory way for the new follower, as well as courses that challenge and inspire those who have been committed to the Christian faith for many years.  The main classes are supplemented with electives on a regular basis in order to minister to people at every level of Christian development.

Our curriculum includes a quarterly choice of topics using a discovery approach that involves adults in the process of learning.  Our classes encourage adults to understand the subject and its implications for their lives and it seeks to foster obedience to the truths of Scripture through the life response of the learners.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY

Women can minister in so many ways to other women.
— Titus 2:3-5

The leadership team designs a variety of ways to encourage connections between women.  It is their primary purpose to influence the spiritual formation of women in these relational settings.

The main ministry connection is through the Tuesday Women’s Group, which meets in the evening during the school year. Topics of vital interest are studied and discussed with the use of a study guide, brief introductory teaching, and small groups. Women are able to learn how to apply the Word of God within their suburban lifestyle. They talk together, pray for each other and care about each other. Many women have started their spiritual journey in this nurturing and affirming group atmosphere. These groups encourage spiritual growth, not just study.

EVENING EDITION — 7:00-9:00 pm.
Recent topics have included contentment, knowing God as our Father and the spiritual disciplines for women.

Women can attend occasional special events such as a weekend retreat, book discussion, or a craft activity offered throughout the summer.  These encourage friendships and help women make progress in their walk with Christ.

Women can invite their friends to a biennial Christmas Tea which is held on the first weekend of December in order for them to find the peace of Jesus' forgiveness.

Women minister to new mothers through the Touching a Mother’s Heart program.  This provides a devotional gift, meals, and prayer with new moms.

Women’s Ministry – women ministering to one another as women.  Every woman needs friends and mentors on her journey toward spiritual maturity!

MEN'S MINISTRY

COMMON JOURNEY
As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
—Proverbs 27:17

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
—Hebrews 10:24-25

Common Journey is the name of our adult men's ministry.
Our primary purpose is for men to become more spiritually mature, more like our Savior, Jesus Christ, through Bible studies and interaction with other men who share this common desire, as we walk together on a Common Journey.
